Top 8 Must Read Life Changing Books for Freelancers

When did you last read a book? Honestly, when there is loads of information available online, we aren’t as much interested as in reading books anymore.

Our older generations were very much relying on books for knowledge and motivation. Books play an important role in motivating people. And, if you are a freelancer, motivation is very crucial for you and improving your business.

In 2015, New York Daily News reported that CEOs and top business leaders read around 4-5 books every month. And, it is not that they don’t have access to online materials. Their unerring inclination for reading proves how important reading books can be in shaping career of a freelancer.

There are some books which are particularly written for freelancers and can help them excel in their career.

I have divided all these books into two major categories.


Rich Dad and Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

I got to read this book in one of my train journeys. I was able to read this whole book by the time I finished my journey. Rich Dad and Poor Dad is a classic which emphasizes the importance of financial literacy.

The author did a comparative analysis of teachings of his rich dad and poor dad. He was of the opinion that while his rich dad teaches him about financial responsibilities and wise investments, poor dad was mostly worried about his daily expenses and had no clue of getting out of his misery.

This book should motivate you for once and for all. I would recommend this book a must read for anyone and everyone.

Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life by Nick Vujicic

If you think you are unlucky, underprivileged, going through a bad phase of life, I am sure, you don’t know Nick Vujicic. Let’s know him first by knowing that he was born without limbs. Shocked!

I was too when I first saw him on television. This courageous man overcomes all the biggest odds of life to become happy, confident and motivated. He believes there is no limit to your life and you can achieve anything that you like.

Nick Vujicic is one of the famous motivational speakers in the world today and is a source of motivation for people around the world. Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life is his account of his physical and mental struggle, and how he overcomes it.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is one of my personal favorites. This novel is a story of a Shepherd boy named Santiago who went in pursuit of a treasure from his homeland in Spain to deserts of Egypt.

His journey was full of ups and downs which help him learn many new skills all along the way. Even though The Alchemist is a novel, it is really very inspiring and you can read few pages to boost yourself whenever you are down.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by R. Stephen Covey

This is another stellar by R. Stephen Covey. The book is a best seller on Amazon India and has sold over 25 million copies.
This is a straight forward book on people’s habits and how altering them can bring a world of change to their life and their career.

In order to simplify the concept, the author has said, it is not what you do, but more about how you do it. This book is a must read for freelancers and small business owners.

The Virgin Way: Everything I Know About Leadership by Richard Branson

Richard Branson is one of the most outrageous leaders of our time. Many times his colleagues would call his ways pure lunacy. But, that’s his signature style and that is the method of his entrepreneurship which has earned him his name.
