Most of my relatives always doubt my capabilities as I prefer working on freelancing jobs. But, most of them don’t know that I earn better than them (I don’t intend to demean anyone, but it’s out of frustration, I am carrying for long).
It is a long-held perception that freelancer don’t get paid well and freelancing jobs are the most insecure form of work. Yeah, I do marginally agree with the security concerns, but that should haunt you if you don’t know how to get new clients. Better, read through my guide for getting new clients as a freelancer.
That is one part of the story. In the other part, there are few close relatives and friends, who are envious of me, as I earn as good as they get from a regular job, but work more than me in a very complex work environment.
Don’t blindly believe what I say. Check out this list of 5 Highest Paid freelancing jobs and be sure.
Let’s be very clear and understand that most of the data produced here are collected from UpWork mostly and might differ from the one you might have read somewhere else. Therefore, I have tried to generalize the figures based on my research.
Software Development (Programmer)
Software developers are in high demand bracket. Not in the freelancing world alone, they are hired for a handsome salary in conventional jobs as well. My search brought me to profile of Brendon B. (Name abbreviated as per naming conventions of UpWork). He is a software developer with a price tag of $120/hour at present.
Interestingly, he has worked 464 hours on 39 different projects and bagged over 50K dollars. This is his income on one job portal. He might have profiles on other job portals and direct clients by now, and income from there. He has got 100% job success rate on UpWork, that indicates he is very likely to get more projects with ease.
Social Media Manager
Social media is in a lot of demand due to its marketing and customer engagement potentials. So, not very surprisingly social media managers are in demand too.
To me, this is one of the most enjoyable jobs one will get. Prepare attractive campaigns, boost a brand, interaction with people and make good money at the end of the month.
Kayla K. charges $60 for per hour for her work. In her three projects which are in progress, she has made $6000+ since January this year. Not bad at all!
That’s my forte, though, you won’t find anything great on my UpWork profile, except for few projects, which are in SEO domain. Most of my writing projects were assigned from direct contacts.
However, I came across this interesting portfolio of Lucas M. I am envious of his hourly rate of $150, but then he must be that good, I got to agree to that.
The digital world today is a big web and therefore web developers are enjoying their sweet moment of success. My research brought me to a long list of web developers from the different parts of the world.
The one which really caught my attention, belong to Kenji Kimura. He is from Kawasaki, Japan and stands at an hourly rate of $50. It caught my tongue when I calculated his this year’s income. It’s around $40K and we only into the 6th month of the year.
This is another fascinating career with lots of potentials. As a freelancer, companies will need you for the various purpose of proposal writing to brochures content and from email copies to web contents.
These are only a few freelancing jobs I have listed here. Make a search with your key skills on Google, you will find many other ideas relating to your work domain and experience.
But believe me, listen to your mind and do the work you want. If you believe a conventional job is made for you, pursue it. I am living my dreams. I always wanted to have an atmosphere, where I am free and able to take my decisions, so I preferred freelancing. So, basically, it boils down to you only.
